About mac-apps

mac-apps is a one-person software studio focused on building beautiful, minimal macOS applications that respect your privacy and your machine.

We started mac-apps because we were tired of bloated utilities that hog RAM, track every action, and break every macOS update. We believe great software should be invisible — there when you need it, gone when you don't.

Our first app, MidClick, embodies everything we care about: one tightly focused feature, built on native frameworks, with a free tier that has real value and a paid tier that's priced fairly.

Why "mac-apps" as a name?

We chose a deliberately generic, descriptive name so we can grow the product line without renaming the studio. mac-apps is where we'll publish every native macOS utility we ship, big or small, today and five years from now. Each app is sold under its own brand (theMidClick name, for example), but they all share the same quality bar and the same values.

Who builds it?

mac-apps is run by a single founder-engineer in collaboration with a small network of trusted designers, beta testers, and macOS users. We ship when something is ready — not on a marketing calendar. Expect a small number of well-made apps rather than a flood of mediocre ones.

How we make money

Every app has a generous free tier. The free tier of MidClick, for example, includes every feature and only limits daily usage to 300 middle-clicks. Most users never hit the cap. If you do, a one-time purchase of $12.99 unlocks Pro — no subscription, no ads, no upsells. That model keeps the apps aligned with you, not with quarterly churn metrics.
